About Me:

I am vegetarian, anarchist and very nerdy. I played and sang in a band called Two Thousand Forty Nine. I make music using my phone and call it For He is the Harbinger of Death.

2049:

2049 - torches

w/lyrics

With the air of  one carrying  through the  most  sacred  item  of  a religious ritual,  Sheerin scraped a large,  clumsy match  into spluttering life.

There it would wait, dancing about, futilely playing about the tip. Then it was topped by the wavering flames until the room began to glow.

THE LIGHT WAS OH SO DIM, MORE THAN SUNS and what we had.

The flames reeled crazily, giving birth to drunken, swaying shadows. The torches smoked devilishly  … But they  emitted yellow light.

With a light there was hope, through the end, what would follow. There was something about that warm yellow light, after hrs having spent in Beta’s dim, somber glow.  And as he (Sheerin) stood warming his hands, It was without regard of the soot now upon. To himself he cried out “BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL. I never knew what a wonderful color yellow could be.”

But Theremon regarded the torches suspiciously. He wrinkled his nose at the rancid odor and said, ‘What are those things?’
    ‘Wood,’ said Sheerin shortly.
‘Oh, no, they’re not. They aren’t burning. The top inch is charred and the flame just keeps shooting up out of nothing.’
‘That’s the beauty of it. This is a really efficient artificial-light mechanism. We made a few hundred of them, but most went to the Hideout, of course. You see’  — he turned and wiped his  blackened  hands  upon  his handkerchief — ‘you take the pithy core  of  coarse  water  reeds, dry them thoroughly, and soak them in animal grease. Then you set fire to it and the grease burns, little by little. These torches will burn for almost half an hour without stopping. Ingenious, isn’t it?”

After the moment’s excitement had past, a stirring confluence had come to an end.

THE DOME WAS OH SO QUIET.

Latimer snuck his chair to the torch lips moving in monotonous tones…

…OF INVOCATIONS TO THE STARS.

Let them all die, come lonely stars the vengeance is yours, pour down your wrath and let the blood flow

ATTENTION: Blah Blah Blah: Can people on my dash stop using the term Skramz?

How is skramz no longer relevant? There have been tons of skramz bands recently, especially in the Midwest. There’s Raein, Lion of the North, Lautrec, Suffix, Boy Problems, La Quiete, Suis La Lune, etc. It’s just the name for modern screamo, used to differentiate it from stuff…

…A lot of people have no longer heard of many bands in punk today, but you wouldn’t say that they lost their relevancy. Just because you’re ignorant about skramz doesn’t mean everyone else is. Using popularity as a judgment of relevancy of skramz, especially when you’re interested in unpopular and obscure bands, makes no sense.

And I don’t see why you care so much that people use a certain term for a group of bands? If anything, skramz and screamo are used interchangeably. It’s just a name for another wave of screamo. Nobody would say skramz isn’t screamo, it’s just an evolution of it.

im with ryancox. the term is annoying. i understand its just as useless as ‘screamo’ but why did we need another term for the same thing? the only people i know who use it are the ones who were born in the 90s.

I never understood skramz. It definitely seems like a term that kids just recently came up with for a genre that’s existed for quite some time now. People need to stop wasting so much time categorizing music. Who cares if it refers to NEW screamo? Just listen to it and stop trying to define it.

I hadn’t heard the term skramz until i started playing in a screamo band. I didn’t know bands still played screamo either. Turns out there is a ton of awesome new music that is evolving from and still incorporating the bands I loved when i was 18. I think it is a useful term, serving to separate between what lots of kids call screamo (which is their right to call the music they think is screamo) and other kids/olderfolks call screamo. Hardcore is a term that my wife and I talk about a lot because it brings up very different images for each of us. Taxonomy is awesome, diversity of classification systems is effing rad, knowing you might like something by the genre someone called it is neat (especially for people who don’t have time to listen to every new band they hear about). Are bane and witch hunt making the same kind of music? On some level yes, its rock and roll, its punk, its hardcore but knowing that one is what i think of as hardcore and the other is crust helps me in deciding which i would rather hear. so fuck yeah skramz.
